DoubleTree Reserva del Higueron Resort and Spa Review

Located on the edge of a private estate in the hills above Fuengirola, Spain lies this modern, trendy full service hotel, perfectly located for beach access whilst serving up a relaxing holiday within the hotel grounds. Perfectly located in the Costa del Sol and within easy reach of both Malaga and Marbella there is everything you could wish for nearby what ever your holiday wishes be.

Guest Rooms and Suites at the DoubleTree Reserva del Higueron:

  • Standard Guest Rooms come is a few variations all of which are well appointed with large screen TVs, mini bars and decorated with a bright modern approach. Rooms with Twin beds or King Bed are available and come either with or without a sea view. All rooms have a decent size balcony with full height and width glass windows allowing excellent views when you awake.
  • Deluxe Guest Rooms are similar to the above but only available with King Beds. Rooms provide more space and the Bath Tub is located near the window to allow you to relax whilst enjoying the view from the window.
  • King Duplex Suites bring the addition of a second mezzanine floor where the large king bed is located along with freestanding bath tub and separate shower room and WC. On the lower floor is a second shower room and toilet along with a dinning area and sofa bed. The suite benefits from being on a higher floor and comes with two 42 inch televisions and a spiral staircase linking the two floors. Duplex suites are available with or without a sea view.
  • One Bedroom suites offer all the luxury’s of the other suites but are spread across a single floor making them more suited to wheelchair users and people who might not like the idea of the narrow spiral staircase to get to the main sleeping area.
  • King Panoramic Suites are essentially the same as the King Duplex Suite but come with the addition of a separate large round day bed seating area on the upper floor which is surrounded by panoramic views over looking the sea.

It must be noted that most rooms that feature a second bathroom, whilst the main shower room and toilet are located behind a conventional door the second bathroom is more open to the upper floor. Where rooms have free standing baths these will be located in the main sleeping area, not the bathroom. Consider your room choices depending on how comfortable you are with your fellow travelers.

All Suites sleep four and standard rooms sleep two. Roll away beds are apparently available but when we asked they seemed somewhat exclusive and extremely limited.

Standing proud on the hillside overlooking the small Scottish village of Dunblane, the Doubletree Dunblane Hydro stands out as one of the finest Hotels within the Doubletree offerings.

Dinning options at the Hydro:

  • Kailyard by Nick Nairn – Set in one the grandest of rooms within the Hydro the Kailyard offers a fine dinning using fresh local ingredients and at what we believe are extremely reasonable prices. The restaurant also offers varying seating areas from quiet secluded corners looking over the estate to a table in the grand conservatory offering a more unique personal dining experience.

Hilton Orlando Review

The Hilton Orlando Resort is situated at the lower end of International Drive is perfectly located within walking distance of all of the nightlight and restaurants along International drive and only 2 minutes drive to Seaworld Orlando, Aquatica Water Park Orlando and the Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets.

This particular Hilton is perfectly suited to both family holiday makers and visitors on business alike. In terms of size the hotels is of a reasonable large size with around 1417 rooms and suites, several restaurants and very large conferencing facilities.

Hilton Orlando Facilities for Families:

Hilton Orlando Pool Night - TravelammoPool : Not many Hilton’s have such extensive pool amenities but this one does. With a large beach entry pool, water slides and it own lazy river there is almost little need to visit the local water parks. Parents can make the most of sunbathing and enjoying the full service hotel facilities including pool side bar, restaurant and waiter service pool side. The whole pool area is set within lush grounds with plenty of sun loungers, free towels offered upon entry and best of all there are lots of secluded areas to relax whilst the children exhaust them self.

Dinning and Restaurants at Hilton Orlando:

Spencer’s for Steak and Chops: This award winning restaurant offers fine quality food and a high class dinning experience, prices are relatively high and for a three course meal can be from $60 to over $100 per head. Expensive but the food and service are worth the bill.

The Bistro: Located in the lower floors of the hotel The Bistro offers fresh simple menus at reasonable prices. The menu varies regularly and you can expect up to $50 per head for the courses. The Bistro is also the location for the hotels buffet breakfast which is of very high quality and extensive in choice. We have always found it to be on par or at the higher end of what your typical Hilton offers for a breakfast buffet.

Davids Club Bar and Grill: The hotels choice for a late night drink the place really does feel more like a bar and it is easy to forget you are located in an extensive hotel. The modest menu offers good simple bar style food including gourmet burgers and snacks. Drinks prices are reasonable and the bar has an small outside area with fire pit and TV should you wish to enjoy your evening tipple outside.

Tropics Bar and Grill: Simple pool side menu and refreshing cocktails served pool side. a few times a week during warmer months there will often be a BBQ buffet available also which is often priced well for the food on offer. Drinks prices can run high if the children hit the soft drinks and bill the room, you’ve been warned.

Rooms:

  • Standard rooms with either King or two queens – Well appointed spacious modern rooms with the standard Hilton facilities.
  • Pool view rooms in either King or two queens – Similar to the standard room but with views over the lush pool area.
  • Pure allergy rooms – The options above are both available but supplied with enhanced air quality and hypoallergenic treatments and linens.

Parking at Hilton Orlando:

Both self park and Valet parking are available at a  cost of $18 plus tax for self park per night and $25 plus tax per night for valet. Both types of parking have huge availability and our experience of both is that both offer excellent service. Valet parking is extremely efficient with many valets working at any one time. Self park is conveniently located at the rear of the property and is operated with your room key. The self park offer direct access to the lift lobby for quick room access.

In summery and important notes:

The is a resort charge added to the room rate to cover facilities  – currently charged at $24 per night per room.

We feel this hotel is the perfect choice for family’s looking for the perfect location to explore all Orlando has to offer in a relaxed way without having to drive for hours and deal with traffic. The hotel also offers I-ride Orlando shuttle vouchers so there is no need to even have to walk. The property is in exceptional condition and every thing on offer is of the highest quality that can be expected.
