Many restaurants and Tapas bars will be family owned and run and whilst most cities throughout the world has many a street corner marked with a national chain, this is not what you will find in this city. Just in case you do crave the a KFC or McDonalds, well lets be honest, you cant travel far on this planet without finding one and you will do here, but only if you try.

Barcelona essentially has three or four main tourist areas and although there is just about somewhere to eat around every corner we list below the most commonly visited areas.

Las Rambles ( La Rambla) :

This is probably the main tourist road which leads from the trendy shopping areas of Eixapmle and Passeig de Gracia to the northwest end and the Port Vell area to the south east end. La Rambla is also borders the famous El Gotic ( historic ) district with its cobbled streets, centuries old buildings and littered with cafes, monuments and cathedrals.

You can expect to find just about every type of food you wish and although the area attracts many thousands of visitors at any one time you will always find a table somewhere without waiting around.

Port Vell Marina:

The area surrounding the Marina includes various cafes and smaller snack bars along with a few more formal restaurants, of which may require reservations. The marina attracts some seriously large yachts which of course have often more to spend there fore some prices are slightly higher than other areas however it affords the perfect opportunity to dine al-fresco and watch daydream over the idea of sailing into the sunset.

Rambla Del Poblenou:

If you are along the mid beachfront around the Bogatell or Mar Bella beach area this is only a short walk away. Cross over the main road directly opposite the Park Poblenou and you will discover several blocks of restaurants all of which offer on street al-fresco dinning at extremely reasonable prices. The common fair is local good quality dishes including Tapas, Paella and grilled fresh seafood. This street is very popular in the evenings and is well worth a stroll to see all that is on offer.

Diagonal Mar Shopping Area:

Next to the Parc de Diagonal Mar is the large modern shopping center which is home to several dine in restaurants as well as a Mc Donalds, Dunking Donuts, Starbucks etc. Dinning is generally available until around 11pm.
